Motorcycle HID Lights Installation Guide

HID Kit installation on Motorcyce and ATV - General Instructions

As you can see above the general installation of HID kit is pretty straight foward. Please note, some kits will not have a connector for vehicles harness, instead there will be two metal connectors that need to be inserted into the vehicle headlight harness.

ATV HID Installation Example using H6m Type Bulbs

Remove your headlight assemby or get access behind it and un-do the stock bulb. Remove the bulb as shown below.

Now, the hard part is understanding what you have to do to keep the HID bulb in H6M socket. its a perfect match but if you remember, the old bulb is held in by part of that old harness socket with a spring in it. SO what I did is remove the ground from the side of the socket, and remove the spring and circuit board the hi low wires went to in the socket, mainly remover all the guts. I stretched the spring out another 1/4 inch or more. There is heat shrink tuning on the H6M bulb part where the wires go out and I removed that.

The old rubber grommet that the wires went thru need the old wires taken out and the new ones added thru. Slit all the holes together and put the wires in and used rtv silicone to keep water out. Thats how the old setup works.

After that put the ballasts under each front inner white fender or green if you have that machine. They are water resistant maybe water proof.  Make all the connections back to your orignal wiring and put the headlights back in place.

You must mount the ballast in a location where they will not move too much. You also do not want them to get too hot.

Another example above where you can mount your ballasts. Above Slim Ballasts are used.

Above you can see the results of having an HID kit installed on your ATV. Long distance viewing.

Motorcycle HID Installation

 1. Remove your headlight or get access behind the headlight to remove the bulb or bulbs if your motorcycle has 2 headlights.

2. Replace the bulb as shown below. Below example is an H7 single filiment bulb which was replaced with the HID version. Its a direct replacement.

3. Connect the wires from factory plug to ballast, and then connect the bulb connectors to the ballast. If your kit came with a Relay wire harness, you can use this by connecting the relay harness directly to your battery.

4. Mount ballast on a secure location by twist ties, bolting or double back tape/velcro.

Your HID kit is installed, put everything back together. Before you put it back together we recommend you test make sure everything is lighting up correctly.

H7 HID Bulb Size Installation

1. Get access to your bulb by removing parts or covers. Each car is different, please consult your owners manual for getting access to the bulb. Disconnect the original vehicles connector that is attached to the bulb and carefully REMOVE the bulb.

2. Drill hole in the cover if one exists for your vehicle to run the HID wires. 1 set of wires runs for the bulb connection and 1 to get power from the cars original wiring plug. You simply have to stick in the terminal connectors into the vehicles original connector. Install your new HID bulb carefully without touching the glass. Run the wires from the location where you will mount the ballasts to the bulb area. Make connection

3. Mount your ballast in a secure place and make sure the connections are tight. You can use zip-tie, double back tape or screws.

H4 HID Bulb Size Installation

1. Get access behind the headlight or remove your headlight and remove the H4 bulb as shown below. Install the HID bulb supplied without touching the glass. If you do you must remove with alcohol.

2. Mount the ballast in a good location. Run any wires through any covers, if any, of your headlights. Connect the bulb wires labeled above to the ballast wires. Connect the dangling red/black wires to your cars appropiate terminal, as shown above.
