It was first introduced in 1999 as an economical alternative in the street bike class that places more prominence on functionality and muscle rather than aerodynamics and sporty looks. There had been demand for this type of bikes also known as naked bikes and Suzuki released this model to satisfy that market. Like its big sister, the SV1000, its physical genetics are borrowed from the TL 1000S, though it offers much better handling mainly owing to its lighter weight which immediately prompted its entry to the race circuit where it was quick to success. Off the race tracks, it was an instant success with the novice and experienced riders as well. It uses a similar headlight to the SV1000 with dual HID H4 halogen ultra beam bulbs which are also interchangeable with the extreme white xenon HID halogen bulbs. Both offer 60/55watts light and cost US $12 and USD 9.00 respectively.
