This model first appeared on the scene in 1998 as the sport bike version of the TL 1000S which had been introduced in the previous year. It was specifically designed for the race circuit and was able to achieve modest success before being recalled in favor of the GSX R750 for the company’s racing entry. It shared similar bike specifications with the 1000S with just a few exceptions and its production lasted until 2003 as a result of stability problems with the sister model (1000S) that critics extended to this model leading to poor sales despite the company’s assurance that it had resolved these issues with this production. Its nevertheless retains extraordinary popularity with its owners as a result of its individuality. Its headlight utilizes a pair of H4 xenon ultra white HID halogen bulbs with the high beam one placed in front of a beam projector and offers 55/60 watts for US $ 14.99.
