This model was introduced to the world in 1997 and was the first bike to use the V-twin engine system. As mentioned earlier, its design was poor on the bikes handling ability leading to the bikes unpopularity and eventual death in 2001. Despite this, its TL motors are very highly regarded especially among the V-twin users and has many bikers unhappy that the production of this model was stopped rather than improved to solve the handling problems. Its halted production led to the introduction of the SV 1000 in 2003 which although popular to those craving for a more powerful SV650, received criticism for losing the individuality of the 1000S. Its headlight carries a couple of xenon H4 HID ultra dual beam bulbs that give a standard 55/60 watts (price: US $ 12) though should one wish, they can replace them with the xenon HID super white ones (price: US $ 8.99) that give the same wattage.
